Ferozepur leads in paddy procurement in country

Chandigarh, Oct 6 (UNI) Ferozepur district was leading the country in paddy procurement with 3,24,913 tonnes having been purchased even as the purchase in Punjab touched 15.70 lakh tonnes till yesterday evening.

Tarn Taran, another border district was at the second spot with 1,79,329 tonnes.

According to an official spokesman the millers had so far procured 1,99,639 tonnes of paddy while FCI procured only 20,079 tonnes. The remaining purchase was done by the five state government agencies.
