CYG Baton Relay reaches Shivneri

Pune, Oct 6 (UNI) After covering a distance of 9,200 kms, the Youth Baton Relay (YBR) has reached Shivneri, the historic birthplace of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, near here, today.

After being flagged off from the country's capital New Delhi on August one, the YBR will be reaching Asia's biggest industrial township of Pimpri-Chinchwad for a night halt, after passing through the religious township of Dehu-Alandi.

During the relay through nine states, the YBR had spread the message of ''Green Games'' and ''Save Tiger'' along with ''Olympic sports and sports culture''.

Tomorrow, the YBR will pass through Khadki, known as the cradle of hockey, and will enter the first Sports city of the country, Pune, at 1400 hrs.

The YBR will arrive at Khadki with big procession of cyclists carrying flags of the participating 71 countries, and after handing over the flags, the flags will be carried to the Holkar bridge via rowing boats and from there, to the Royal Connaught Boat Club (RCBC).

On October nine, the YBR will reach the Baburao Sanas complex in Pune at 1500 hrs.
