CPI(M) demands free pattas to landless poor, takes out rally
Chennai, Oct 6 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu unit of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) today took out a rally in the city, demanding free pattas-land ownership titles, to landless poor in the state.
The rally, which began from the Munroe Statue on the Arterial Anna Salai, culminated at the State Guest House near Marina beach.
Later, a CPI(M) delegation led by State Secretary N Varadharajan submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister M Karunanidhi at the state Secretariat in this regard.
The CPI(M) said poor families living in Government poromboke lands across the state had applied for free land pattas.
The CPI-M demanded that the land not being used by the government should be allotted for the free distribution of pattas to the poor.
