ACB seizes Rs 71,950 from Motor vehicle inspectors
Hyderabad, Oct 6 (UNI) ACB sleuths have seized Rs 71,950 from Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspectors (AMVIs) during surprise check on the Motor Vehicle checkpost at Chillakallu in Krishna district.
Acting on a tip-off that the Motor Vehicle Inspectors at Chillakallu Check Post were collecting bribes from the lorry drivers, the ACB staff along with official mediators conducted a surprise Check in the early hours of yesterday and seized an amount of Rs 34,900 from AMVI Satya Murthy, Rs 23,010 from AMVI V Rama Krishna and Rs 14,040 from the staff employed by AMVIs, a press release said here today.
Necessary action would be initiated against the AMVIs, the release added.
Meanwhile, Special Judge for SPE&ACB Cases, Nellore, sentenced former Gudur Municipal Commissioner E N Rosappa and former Assistant Engineer and TPBO Gudur Municipality In-charge K Subbarayudu to one-year rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 2,000 for the offence under section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
The Special Judge further sentenced them to undergo rigorous imprisonment for one year and also to pay a fine of Rs 2,000 for the offence under the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Earlier, the above officials were trapped when they accepted bribe of Rs 1,200 and Rs 1,000 respectively from an advertising agency owner for doing an official favour.
