5 held for illegal sale of foreign made liquor
Pune, Oct 6 (UNI) Maharashtra Excise Department today arrested five people for illegally selling foreign-made liquor and seized liquor and cash worth Rs 16 lakh from their possession during raids conducted in different parts of the city.
Acting on a tip-off, officials of state excise department of Pune division carried out raids at various places in the city, including Vadgaon Maval, Vishrantwadi and Kothrud and seized foreign made liquor from the accused, the department sources said.
At least 51 brands of foreign liquor worth Rs 11 lakh besides Rs five lakh cash, were recovered from Ram Madhukar Pansere (26), Pravin Pansare (25), Harmintsingh Mongi (35) Shivaji Jadhav (53) and Prayag Lele, sources said.
