Hyderabad, Oct 5 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National Vice-President Yashwant Sinha today demanded the arrest of Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) Vice-Chancellor (VC) Mushirul Hasan for his decision to provide legal support to two students arrested on charges of indulging in terrorism and also arrest of Union Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh for supporting the VC's decision.
Talking to newspersons here, Mr Sinha said the Vice-Chancellor's decision that the University would stand by its two students Mohammad Shakeel, and Zia-Ur-Rehman arrested by Delhi Police in connection with the serial blasts in the national capital, till they were proven guilty was totally unacceptable.
''Both the Vice-Chancellor and the HRD Minister are punishable under the law of the land for standing in support of those arrested for indulging in terrorist acts'', Mr Sinha added.
This showed that United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government would not only appease the members of the particular minority community for vote bank politics but also defend terrorists, he alleged.
Vehmently opposing the talk on imposing President's Rule in Orissa, he said the Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil, owed an explanation to the nation on continuing terror strikes across the country.
