Madikeri, Oct 5: In a hard to believe incident, a scam involving government doctors and employees has come to light.
Kodagu Druggists and Chemists Association has lodged a complaint with the Town police and alleged that the medical bills issued by the medical shops in the districts are being manipulated by doctors and employees to claim health benefits.
President of the Association and Vice President of the state Chemists and Druggists Association A K Jeevan has said that the government doctors are involved in changing the original bills to be claimed by government employees.
He produced a proof and said that a medical bill passed by a medical shop in Madikeri for Rs 100.65 was was changed to Rs 6100.65.
Suspecting the bill amount, the officers conducted an inquiry at the medical shop and found the difference in the duplicate bill.
The original bill was changed by including the false names of medicines, batch number and amount.
