Inter-school chess tournament from October 31 to November 11

Mumbai, Oct 5 (UNI) Venus Chess Academy, in association with Bombay Chess Association, would be hosting the Mumbai Youth Inter-School Chess Championship at the Goregaon Sports Club here from October 31 to November 11.

The tournament would be conducted separately for Boys and Girls, studying in the Schools/Colleges in the jurisdiction of Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane in the categories Under-7, Under-9, Under-11, Under-13, Under-15 and Under-17.

The event would be conducted on a swiss-league system for a total number of 10 rounds scheduled over 4-days for each of the group, a release issued here today stated.

There are 25 prizes in each of the category with the winner getting sponsorship to play in the National Youth Championship.

Besides this, the top five players in each category would become eligible to participate in one FIDE Rating Tournament and also attend a free 10-day Chess Coaching Camp. Prizes would also be awarded to the best school on the basis of points aggregate.

The Guest of Honour for the closing ceremony would be hitherto World's Youngest Grandmaster, Parimarjan Negi who would also be playing a simultaneous chess against top three players in each category, the release added.
