Srinagar, Oct 5 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir Bank has introduced first hi-tech Mobile Bank Branch (MBB), which is fully equipped with all basic facilities of a full-fledged branch.
The MBB was flagged off by Governor N N Vohra at Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Complex (SKICC) yesterday, officials said today.
The state of the art-branch will be functioning in a hi-tech mobile van fully equipped with all the basic facilities of a full-fledged branch.
The branch is fully computerised having cash vault and sufficient space for customers and staff. All the basic functions of the bank will be available to the customers in this mobile branch.
The Governor, who boarded the mobile van to have a look at the state-of-the-art technology of the mobile bank branch, lauded the role of the J &K Bank in rendering high class services to the people of the state even in remotest locations.
He appreciated this initiative of the bank, saying it would widen the horizon of financial inclusion of those who have so far remained outside the ambit of the banking.
Mr Vohra said this facility would particularly help the people in remote and far off areas.
''We are of the view that if a customer, due to frail infrastructure, is not able to reach the bank branch let the bank reach to him,'' Dr Haseeb A Drabu, Chairman and Chief Executive of the Bank said.
''We take it as our social responsibility to provide banking services to the people of remote areas who find it difficult to reach our branches.'' It is a hi-tech step towards our financial inclusion through which we are reaching out to all,'' Mr Drabu said.
The officials said initially the mobile branch would cater to the needs of far flung villages of Ganderbal district. It was connected with the Ganderbal business unit of the bank and the customers would get all the banking facilities, which otherwise they get in the branch. The customers could deposit and withdraw money, open new accounts and enjoy benefits of various products and services of bank, they added.
