Three ULFA rebels gunned down
Guwahati, Oct 4 (UNI) Three suspected ULFA militants were killed in an encounter with a joint team of the police and Army in lower Assam's Nalbari district late last night.
Official sources here today said the encounter took place at Kendubari village under Tihu police station when the joint team laid an ambush following tip-off about the presence of an ULFA team.
In the ensuing gun battle that lasted for about half-an-hour, three rebels were killed, while the rest managed to flee.
The deceased are yet to be identified.
Arms and ammunition, including carbines, pistols, grenades and gun powder, were recovered from the spot.
