SOG seizes counterfeit currency worth 4 lakh; two held
Lakhimpur Kheri, Oct 4 (UNI) A Joint team of local police and Special Operation Group (SOG) today arrested two persons with fake currency of rupees four lakh in this district of Uttar Pradesh.
On a tip-off, The SOG, Mohammadi and Pasgawan police intercepted four persons on two motorcycles, of which two managed to flee, SP Ram Bharose said.
The men nabbed were identified as Kaushal Gupta of Kheri and Tarachand of Hardoi and Rs 4,03,000 fake notes of denomination of 1000 and 500 were seized from them.
The duo confessed of the crime and spelled the beans about running the counterfeit racket in Kheri, Hardoi, Shahjahanpur, Sitapur.
They also confessed of having an accomplice in Bihar and suppling fake currency to him too.
The criminals were in this business for an year now and used to bring counterfeits currency from the neighbouring district of Bihar, the SP added.
