No firing in Srinagar, 9 security personnel injured in clash
Srinagar Oct 4 (UNI) Denying media reports about firing during a demonstration in Srinagar down town yesterday, a police spokesman said the today that nine security personnel, including an officer, were injured in stone pelting.
He said the reports about firing on demonstrators by the police and the CRPF were totally baseless.
However, he admitted that after the Friday prayers, some people resorted to stone pelting on police station Nowhatta.
But, he said, police used minimum force of baton charge and also burst teargas shells to control the situation.
One protestor was injured after he was hit by a tear smoke shell, he added.
Spokesman said five police and four CRPF personnel, including a Deputy Commandant, were injured in the clash.
