Mumbai, Oct 4 (UNI) Police have solved a murder-cum-robbery case within 24 hours of the incident by arresting two people in this connection.
Habib Shaliya (40), the manager-cum-cashier of Hotel Heroes located at Nana Chowk in South Mumbai had been murdered and the assailants had fled with the cash and the accused's mobile phone.
The murder and robbery came to light at around 1000 hours, when the hotel staff members found his dead body from a room in the hotel, where he used to sleep at night.
Addressing mediapersons here today, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Rajendra Dabhade said after interrogating the staff of the hotel, it was found that two employees were absconding.
Dabhade further stated that the railway police were immediately alerted with a description of the two accused.
The Igatpuri railway police spotted the duo in the general compartment of Gitanjali Express and detained both of them, while informing the Gaodevi police about the same. A team was rushed to Igatpuri and after identification the two were brought to Mumbai yesterday itself, the DCP added.
They were identified as Ashokkumar Ganeshram Mahanand (20) and Hemsagar Yadav (18). Police have recovered cash of Rs 14,000, the mobile phone of the deceased and railway ticket from their possession.
