Shillong, Oct 4 (UNI) With three more people succumbing to their injuries at the Shillong Civil Hospital today, the toll from Thursday's bus accident at Meghalaya's Lailad village in West Khasi Hills district has risen to 11, even as several critically injured are still being treated.

On Thursday, an overloaded bus was on its way from Shillong to Ranikor, 200 kmfrom here. However, midway at around 2130 hrs, the driver lost control, resulting in the bus plunging into a deep gorge causing the accident, police said, quoting eye witnesses.

Meanwhile, several others, including women and children, are stated to be in a critical condition and battling for their lives.

''The driver took a sharp turn and lost control and the bus started to roll downhill,'' one of the survivors said here.

Altogether, eight women and 16 men are being treated here. The handyman of the bus, Leadingstar Well, was today discharged from the hospital after being treated.
