Left parties observe ''Black Day''
Hyderabad, Oct 4 (UNI) Thousands of activists of the Left parties staged a dharna in protest against the Indo-US nuclear deal, coinciding with US State Secretary Condoleeza Rice's visit to India, here today.
Leading the agitation as part of the nation-wide stir and observance of ''Black day'', CPI State Secretary K Narayana and CPI (Marxist) State Secretary B V Raghavulu alleged that the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government had surrendered the country's interests to ''imperialist'' US.
The activists of the CPI, CPI(M), Forward Bloc and the Republican Socialist Party (RSP) also took out a protest march from the Jagjivanram statue in the Basheerbagh centre to Old MLA quarters shouting slogans against the Manmohan Singh Government for allegedly succumbing to the designs of the USA and serving as its junior partner.
