Jaipur, Oct 4 (UNI) Jodhpur District Collector Naresh Pal Gangwar and Superintendent of Police Malini Agrawal have been removed from their posts in the aftermath of September 30 Chamunda Temple stampede which had left 224 people dead.
Assistant Superintendent of Police, (ASP) Paramjyoti has also been transferred. They have been kept awaiting posting order (APO) for the time being, an official spokesman said.
Earlier, Sub Divisional Officer Girish Parashar was also transferred.
AICC General Secretary and former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot termed the removal of the District Collector and the ASP, a delayed step and said prima facie the temple tragedy was case of administrative failure.
He also took exception to Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria's clean chit to the police and adminsitrative officials who were responsible for making arrangements for the occasion and later to handle the situation after the stampede.
Talking to reporters here today Mr Gehlot said neither there were administrative preparations for crowd management nor were arrangements after the incident.
He said ''the officials even failed to inform the Home Minister of the incident till 0800 hrs even then he is kind enough to give clean chit to the officials concerned''.
