Puducherry, Oct 4: Former President A P J Abdul Kalam would dedicate JIPMER to the nation on October 15.
JIPMER was converted into an institution of national importance by an Act of Parliament and a gazette notification in this regard was issued on July 14, 2008.
Talking to newspersons here today, PMK Parliamentary Party leader Prof M Ramadass said a Rs 93.04 crore super speciality block, Rs 13 crore trauma care centre and 'Kalai Arangam' constructed at a cost of Rs 9.74 crore would also be inaugurated on the same day.
Besides, Mr Kalam, Union Minister for health and family welfare Dr Anbumani Ramadoss, Puducherry Lt Governor Govind Singh Gurjar, Union Minister of state for planning V Narayansami, Puducherry Chief Minister V Vaithilingam and Health Minsiter E Valsaraj would participate in the function, he said.
Mr Ramadass said the PMK would organise a national conference in New Delhi on October 20 in which necessity to conduct the 2011 census on community basis would be highlighted.
He invited leaders of all political parties to participate in the conference and said about 100 PMK caders from Puducherry would participate in it.
