Haryana to encourage pvt investment in higher education

Chandigarh, Oct 4 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today said the state government had enacted Private University Act to encourage private sector investment in higher education.

He also invited the New Delhi Institute of Management to set up a similar institute in the Rajiv Gandhi Education City being set up at Kundli near Delhi.

Mr Hooda was addressing the 11th annual convocation of the New Delhi Institute of Management at New Delhi.

He said the state government had laid thrust on bringing about comprehensive education reforms at all levels from primary to university level as well as in areas of technical education.

Mr Hooda said the UPA government had sanctioned setting up of an Indian Institute of Management in Rohtak district, a Business School and a Knowledge Park in the campus of Guru Jambeshwar University Hisar, a Central university in Mahendergarh district and a defence University.

He said Deen Bandhu Chhotu Ram Engineering College Murthal and Guru Jambeshwar University Hisar had been upgraded as Science and Technology Universities.
