Chandigarh, Oct 4 (UNI) In order to popularise the concept of energy conservation among school children, the Haryana Renewable Energy Development Agency (HAREDA) has decided to conduct an essay writing competition for the students of sixth to eighth standards in the state.
The topic for the Essay is "Energy Conservation-Need of the Hour".
HAREDA Director Sumita Misra said it had been felt that there was a great need for creation of mass awareness among the public on this vital issue. HAREDA had undertaken a massive awareness campaign to promote energy conservation in the state.
In this context, an essay writing competition would be organised this year for the students at the district and state level. The aim of competition was to motivate the children towards energy conservation and to offer them a chance to express their ideas on energy conservation.
Ms Misra said the Department of Renewable Energy was the State Designated Agency for implementation of the Energy Conservation Act 2001 and other related programmes.
