Former Karnataka DG
Bangalore, Oct 4 (UNI) Former Karnataka DG and IGP K R Srinivasan died here today after a prolonged illness.
Mr Srinivasan, who was suffering from diabetes and kidney failure was recently admitted to Manipal Hospital where he breathed last in the early hours of today.
He was 60. He was survived by his wife and one son and a daughter.
Mr Srinivasan, who hailed from Tamil Nadu, joined police department in 1972 and rose to DG and IGP rank before retiring from service in July last after 36 years of service.
In recognition of his meritorious service he had been awarded President Medal.
Senior Police officers, including DGP R Shrikumar, City Police Commissioner Shankar Bidari placed wreaths on the body and paid their tribute to the departed soul.
The last rites will be held on Monday after arrival of his son Dr Shantanu and daughter Malavika who have settled in USA, family sources said.
