Lucknow, Oct 4 (UNI) Annoyed over neglect of senior leaders, more than 30 senior Congress leaders of Pratapgarh district resigned enmasse on October 2.
The resigned leaders include former state secretary Om Prakash Pandey along with 15 members of the Pratapgarh district Congress committee and the chiefs of 4 frontal organisations of the party in the district.
The Congress leaders in a letter to party president Sonia Gandhi, General secretary Rahul Gandhi and state Congress president Rita Bahuguna Joshi have charged Congress legislature party leader Pramod Tiwari, who hails from Pratapgarh, with hatching a conspiracy against them and forced the state leadership to ignore them.
Pratapgarh district Congress general secretary and spokesperson Rajendra Bahadur Singh in his letter to Sonia Gandhi said several congress workers, including one vice-president, four general secretaries and 7 secretaries, tendered their resignations over the high-handness of Mr Tiwari.
On the other hand, Mr Om Prakash Pandey in a statement here today said they had full faith on Ms Gandhi but it was unfortunate that grassroot level workers of the Congress were being ignored due to the vested interest of some leaders.
Mr Pandey said during past several years he along with his team had fought against the different regime in the district and even went to jail on several occasions.
The other prominent Congressmen resigned along with Mr Pandey include district Congress legal cell president Rajeswar Prasad Tripathi, district mahila cell president Saroj Kashyap and district general secretary Suchita Pandey.
