Patna, Oct 04 (UNI) The Union government has released Rs 40 crore for repair of the Kushaha embankment on the Kosi, which had breached on August 18, causing catastrophic flood in North Bihar.
Union Minister of State for Water Resources Jayprakash Narayan Yadav said here today that the first instalment of Rs 40 crore had been released in advance for repair works with an instruction to the Bihar government for taking up the construction work immediately.
'' The state government has also been asked to carry on the repair works on war footing, '' he said adding the construction works would be monitored by the Ganga Flood Control Commission (GFCC).
Mr Yadav said the second instalment would be sanctioned soon once the state government submit the utilisation certificate after spending 75 per cent of the first instalment.
The Union Minister lambasted the state government for neglecting the maintenance work of the Kushaha embankment even after the entire funds were sanctioned for the same by the Centre.
