Atttempt to murder against 7 police officer
Sagar (MP) Oct 4 (UNI) The condition of the Bharatiya Janata Party MP Virendra Kumar, who was critically injured in lathi charge by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) during an anti-encroachment drive near Bina railway station in this district yesterday, has improved slightly.
Mr Kumar was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of Hameedia hospital here yesterday after receiving a greivous head injury.
Cases were registered against six RPF Officials including Commandant Sarika Mohan and a GRP Officer in connection with the incident.
Police said cases were lodged against the Commandant, RPF officer incharge Vivek Sharma, Assistant Sub-Inspector Sharma and Kartar , jawan Sudhir, constables Gokul and Kartar and GRP Station House Officer P M Badgurjar.While except the Commandant six others were sent for line attachment.
Attempt to murder and other charges were framed against Mr Badgurjar, RPF Commandant Mr Mohan, Town Inspector Vivek Sharma and four other RPF jawans, police added.
RPF and GRP jawans allegedly rained lathi-blows on the BJP MP from Sagar when he intervened in removal of shops erected illegally on encroached railway land in Chhotti Bajaria area of Bina Station.
Meanwhile, the divisional town of Sagar observed a total bandh today on the BJP's call to protest the assault on BJP Parliamentarian. All shops and markets remained closed, official sources said.
