MP: Murder case booked on police officer
Sagar, MP, Oct 4: Five Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel were suspended and attempt to murder case was registered against a Government Railway Police (GRP) officer and six others allegedly assaulting BJP MP Virendra Kumar while removing encroachments near Bina railway station here.
RPF Superintendent R S Uike said Town Inspector Vivek Sharma, Assistant Sub-Inspector Sharma and jawans Sudhir, Gokul and Kartar Singh had been suspended with immediate effect.
Attempt to murder and other charges had been framed against Bina's GRP Station House Officer S S Badgurjar, RPF Commandant Sarika Mohan, Town Inspector Vivek Sharma and four other RPF jawans, according to Bina Town Inspector K R Sirojiya.
The RPF and GRP jawans had allegedly rained lathi-blows on the BJP MP from Sagar, when he intervened while removing shops erected illegally on encroached railway land in Chhotti Bajaria area of Bina Station.
Mr Kumar, who had suffered wounds on his head and hand, is undergoing treatment at Bhopal's Hamidia Hospital.
The divisional town of Sagar, meanwhile, observed a total 'bandh' today on the BJP's call to protest the assault on the party parliamentarian.
