Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, Oct 4 (UNI) Three people, including two brothers, have been arrested in connection with a brutal murder of a woman here, police said today.
Superintendent of Police Vivekanand Sinha told mediapersons that Bhilai Resident Mamata Thakur was murdered and axed in to two parts on August 23. Her headless body was thrown at railway line and her head sealed in a sack in local Arpa river.
Mamata, who arrived here to attend 'terehanvi' of her friend Bindi Singh, was found missing on the same date. After a long investigation, police found Bindi's father Bhagwan Singh, brothers Ravinder Singh, Bhagwat Singh and neighbour Krishan Kumar involved in the crime.
Bindi was allegedly killed in a road mishap at Bhilai in August but her family hold Mamata responsible for her death as she was a close confidant of former.
Hence, they killed Mamata when she arrived here for Bindi's last rituals.
Bindi extracted Rs 7 lakh from several youth in Bhilai in the name of providing teachers job to them.
Bhagwan Singh is absconding, police added.
