Chennai, Oct 3 (UNI) The Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanams (TTD), which administers the famous Lord Venkateswara Temple at Tirumala, will organise a 'Loka Kshemartham Ashtothara Satakundatmaka Mahaa Saanthi Yaagam' in the city from October 12 to 14 for world peace and to promote goodwill and communal harmony.
Hundreds and thousands of devotees were expected to attend the Yagna being organised for the benefit of devotees in Tamil Nadu to invoke the blessings of Lord Venkateshwara and his consort Goddess Padmavathy.
The three-day Yagna would be conducted at Tiruvanmiyur area in the city.
The Mahaa Shanthi Yaagam would take place twice a day between 0700 to 1000 and from 1700 to 2000 on October 12 and 13.
There would be only one session on October 14 from 0800 to 1200, Deputy Executive Officer TTD, Tirumala, N Gopalakrishna and TTD Local Information Centre, Chennai, President C K Ananda Kumar Reddy, told newspersons here today.
''This auspicious occasion will enable large number of devotees staying in and around Chennai and in other parts of Tamil Nadu, to participate in this holy function. It is a great opportunity especially for the poor and the downtrodden to take part in this function free of cost'', they said.
The TTD has taken extra effort as part of ensuring tight security considering the prevailing situation in the country.
They said the TTD would bring the ''Utsavars'' from Tirumala to perform the ''Mahaa Saanthi Yaagam''.
The Tamil Nadu State Transport Department has made special arrangements to operate more number of buses from various parts of the city for the benefit of devotees.
