SP, Cong talks on seat-sharing likely this evening
New Delhi, Oct 3 (UNI) The third round of talks between the Samajwadi Party and the Congress on seat-sharing in Uttar Pradesh for the coming Lok Sabha elections is expected to take place later this evening.
In the first two rounds, the SP and the Congress, who came close to each other in the wake of the crisis over the nuclear deal, could not reach any kind of settlement with the talks stuck over the number of seats the former should concede to the latter and also the seats on which the SP had sitting MPs but were being claimed by the Congress bigwigs.
While the Congress is demanding about 25 seats, the SP is learnt to be unwilling to concede more than a dozen seats.
Leaders of the two parties have been admitting without any hesitation that there were difficulties, but were hopeful that the issues would be finally thrashed out.
Party sources said that the talks would most likely take place this evening.
''SP General secretary Ram Gopal Yadav is out of town. If he arrives in the evening, we will certainly meet,'' they said.
The venue for the meeting is being kept secret this time too.
