Police use mild force in Baran Jail to restore order
Kota, Oct 3 (UNI) The police today used mild force in the Baran District Jail to restore order after prisoners turned violent setting afire furniture and records and damaging property in the premises.
The trouble began following mysterious death of an inmate in a solitary barrack this morning.
According to authorities inmate Surendra Singh committed suicide but the report of his death agitated the prisoners who came out of their barracks alleging that Surendra Singh died due to negligence of the jail administration.
They resorted to damaging property and torched jail furniture alongwith the office record.
The violent prisoners forced the jail officials to flee for safety.
The order was restored in the jail later this afternoon when police entered the premises and controlled the situation after using mild force.
There were about 250 inmates in the jail.
The inquiry into the incident had been entrusted to an officer of Inspector General rank, Director General(Jails) PK Tiwari said.
