Police suspect Indian Mujahiddin connection in terrorist acts

Mangalore, Oct 3 (UNI) Inspector General of Police (Western Range) A M Prasad today said that the Daxina Kannada police along with Anti-Naxal Force (ANF) have in a joint operation taken into custody four suspected persons to investigate their link with Indian Mujahiddin.

Addressing a press conference here while ruling out the media reports of detention of eight persons he said that only four persons had been taken into custody for interrogation.

They have been identified as Mohammed Ali (56), a contractor from Ullal and his son Javid (20), Naushad (25) from Subhashnagar and Ahmed Bawa alias Riyaz Bhatkal (33) from Haleyangady.

He said that during the operation conducted in the wee hours today, the police have seized Rs 11.34 lakh cash, five crude live bombs, 12 mobile sets, one laptop and two wheelers. During the raid on Ahmed Bawa's house, the police have seized the live crude bombs, five mobile sets with sim cards, Islamic literatures and dairy.

The raids were conducted at Muttachery beach road, Chembugudde, Subhashnagar near Pandeshwar in the city here and Haleyangady near Mulky.

Declining to reveal more details, Mr Prasad said that the interrogation was still on to find out the links with the Indian Mujahiddin group who were responsible for the recent bomb blasts in different parts of the country.
