Imphal, Oct 3 (UNI) Former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition Radhabinod Koijam (NCP) today alleged that the Congress-led Secular Progressive Front (SPF) government had failed to discharge its duties.
Raising a Call Attention Motion in the House today, Mr Koijam alleged that there was no governance in the state, saying the misrule could be gauged from the conditions of the roads in the heart of the city.
''In the name of sewerage project, the Public Health Engineering Department, (PHED) dug up the roads in Imphal. Even after more than a year since the work started, it has been left incomplete and many people have become victims of accidents due to the ditches in the middle of the roads, while a youth lost his life last week,'' he said.
''The government is so careless that barricades were not constructed and warning boards were missing near the ditches on the main roads, thus resulting in frequent accidents,'' he added.
Mr Koijam revealed that he had written several letters to the department however no action was taken in this regard.
Meanwhile, other MLAS, including W Morung Makunga and L Nandakumar, urged the government to look into the matter.
Legislators O Joy and Dr I Ibohanbi also raised the issue of alleged encroachment on the territory of Manipur by the Nagaland government at Lai village in Senapati district.
Manipur Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, however, said there was ''no official complaint on the matter,'' adding that he would look into the issue.
