Communal clash in Rajkot, police open fire
Rajkot, Oct 3 (UNI) Police had to fire three rounds in the air to stall a clash between members of the majority and minority communities, over an eve-teasing incident at Upleta town of the district yesterday.
Rural District Superintendent of Police N D Solanki told UNI that trouble erupted following an eve-teasing incident at Bavla-chowk of Upleta town last night.
Members of the minority community allegedly beat up the youth, who had misbehaved with a woman of their community, this ensued into a clash between member of the two groups, forcing the police to resort to firing, Mr Solanki said.
The situation was under control, however, security has been tightened in the area to avoid any further clashes.
No one has been arrested so far, Mr Solanki added.
