Two militants shot dead, three civilians injured
Kohima, Oct 2 (UNI) The Kohima police recovered the body of an NSCN-IM activist from Aradhura Hills on the outskirts of this capital town.
Official sources here today said the victim was reportedly abducted by some unidentified gunmen from the Chandmari area of Kohima yesterday and his bullet-ridden body was later recovered from the Aradhura area.
Police registered a case and investigation was on, the sources said.
In a separate incident, Assam Police shot dead one NSCN(K) activist yesterday in the Bor Longri area under Karbi Anglong district of Assam and injured three civilians.
Official sources, quoting Assam Police, said the cadre was asked to stop, but he fired at the police patrol and tried to escape, compelling the Assam Police to shoot him.
In the firing, three civilians, including two women, were injured. Two of the injured were admitted to a private nursing home in Dimapur where the condition of one of them was stated to be serious.
Assam police recovered one .32 weapon from the spot along with two live rounds.
The body of the militant was taken to Diphu for post-mortem. When Dimapur police rushed to the spot, Assam police assured to hand over the body after formalities.
