Adilabad, Andhra Pradesh, Oct 2 (UNI) Coinciding with 'Gandhi Jayanti', the main opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in Andhra Pradesh today launched state-wide agitation against alleged rampant corruption during the Congress Regime.
TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu launched the programme at the Manchiryala in the district and participated in the dharna at Yellampalli Irrigation Project alleging corruption in irrgation projects taken up by the government.
Later, addressing the gathering, he alleged the Congress Government had neglected the interests of the farmers in the State.
He said the Congress Government was responsible for the rising prices of essential commodities and scarcity of fertilisers.
Mr Naidu called upon the youth to take part in the stir in a big way as their future would be bleak if they compromised on corruption in all walks of life in the Rajasekara Reddy Regime.
Mr Naidu said he would also expose the government's neglect of tribals' health as many of them succumbed to viral fever in the agency areas.
Eight teams had been constituted and a coordination committee formed at the state level to spearhead the stir against corruption in various spheres, including implementation of the INDIRAMMA Housing Scheme and the National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme (NREGP).
He alleged Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy was taking lightly the large number of starvation deaths by handloom weavers in Sircilla and other places.
Mr Naidu demanded writing off of loans secured by them, an ex-gratia to the tune of Rs 1.50 lakh to them and steps for revival of the handloom sector.
The party youth wing would organise a ''Yuva Garjana'' at Guntur on October 24 to enlighten the youth about rising corruption.
