Agartala, Oct 2: In a major development, the Police on Thursday, Oct 2 have arrested six in connection with Tripura blasts that killed two and left 100 wounded. "Four persons, including one of those seen on a bike at the Radhanagar bus stand shortly before the blast there, were arrested on Wednesday, Oct 1 night after the explosions," said DIG (Police Control), Nepal Das said.

Two others were arrested on Wednesday, Oct 1 late night. A team of National Security Guard (NSG) from Delhi and a team of forensic experts from Kolkata were at the blast sites at Maharaja Ganju Bazar, Gobind Ballab Pant market, Bottala, Radhanagar bus stand and Agartala Motorstand, Das added.

It is yet to be ascertained who were behind the blasts but there was no doubt that a strong network and a lot of planning had gone behind it, Das said, adding it was not known if remote control was used to trigger the blasts which occurred in a space of five minutes.

He said, security has been strengthened throughout the city and counter insurgency operations stepped up in remote and insurgency-hit areas.
