Srinagar, Oct 2: Security forces opened fire and burst teargas shells to disperse a group of violent mob who had allgedly set on fire tents at Rambagh on Srinagar-airport road this afternoon.

Hundreds of people today took to streets at Solina-Rambagh to protest against raddi collectors and beggers from other states, who were involved consuming and selling liquor and drugs in the area.

The mob allegedly set on fire some tents belonging to these beggers and scrap dealers.

Security forces and police opened fire in the air and also burst teargas shells to disperse them, who were pelting stones.

About half-a-dozen people were injured in the clash.

About 90 per cent labourers from outside, including Biharis, left the valley after the recent agitation on Amarnath land row.

However, beggers and raddi collectors stayed in the valley.

About four lakh labourers and other workers are arriving in the Kashmir valley after winters every year and work in almost all parts of the valley till November ending.
