Rio urges elders to raise voice for solution
Kohima, Oct 02 (UNI) Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has said that division was being created within the Nagas as various Naga groups were trying to bring peace on their own terms and not on the terms of the common people.
Addressing the elders on the occasion of the World Elders' Day here at the State Banquet Hall last evening, Mr Rio appealed to the elders of Naga society, whom he referred as the guides of society, to raise their voice and urge the warring groups to become part of the solution, rather than a part of the problem.
He stated that the Naga society was going through a crisis and if senior citizens remained neutral and silent, nothing will go right.
Maintaining that senior citizens can contribute a lot towards solution of the Naga political issue, he opined that Nagas were confusing freedom with civilisation.
The Chief Minister announced that the state Education Department has come up with a plan to identify wise elderly folk to teach in schools about the rich culture and traditions of the Nagas.
