Jaipur, Oct 2 (UNI) Adhering to his pro poor style of political practice, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi spent a night with a tribal Sahariya family in Amroli village of Baran district in Rajasthan.
He had an interaction with the family and villagers, who had gathered to meet him last night and later this morning.
The SPG and security agencies had made a three-tier security arrangements for his visit.
The host family and villagers were thrilled to find the scion of the Nehru-Gandhi family among them, Congress leader and former Minister Shanti Dhariwal told UNI over telephone.
Later, Mr Gandhi visited the nearby Tinjara village to inspect road work being done under the NREGS and sought updates from the workers on implementation related aspects and problems faced by them.
The Amethi MP had come to Rajasthan yesterday to visit Jodhpur for getting first-hand information about Tuesday's temple stampede, and was to return to Delhi in the evening.
Mr Gandhi, however, changed his programme and flew to Kota from Jodhpur last evening.
From Kota, he reached Anta town in Baran district and spent some time at the NTPC rest house. Later, he proceeded for Amroli to spend the night with a Sahariya family.
The Congress leader had also joined a Dalit family for dinner in a village in his Amethi constituency in May this year.
