Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur remembered in J'khand

Ranchi, Oct 2 (UNI) Floral tributes were paid to the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on their birth anniversary here today.

Governor Syed Sibtey Razi and Chief Minister Shibu Soren garlanded the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at the Morhabadi ground here.

Mr Razi, in his message said that Gandhiji was not only an inspiration for the 20th century but also a saint who taught 'Ahimsa'.

Mr Soren stressed to adopt the path of 'Satyagraha' and 'non-violence'.

Members of the Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee (JPPC) also garlanded the photos of Gandhiji and Lal Bahadur Shastri.

Addressing the party workers JPCC general secretary Shailesh Sinha said that both leaders sacrificed their lives for the development of the nation.

Various programmes were also organised at the offices of political parties and educaational insitutes.
