Cong practising everything against Gandhiji's belief: Venkaiah
Vijayawada, Oct 2 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu today alleged that the Congress, calling Mahatma Gandhi as 'Father of the Nation,' was in practice doing everything against his beliefs.
Addressing a press conference here, he said the Congress was a movement during the independence struggle and not a political party.
It was a common platform for independence struggle across partylines wherin several leaders like Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Bhagat Singh and others fought for independence.
Claiming that Gandhiji had suggested the then leaders to wind up the Congress but they disagreed and continued it for political gains, the BJP leader said and reminded Congressmen on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti what Gandhiji had said and what were they doing.
Recollecting Gandhi's views and policies, he said Gandhiji had advised to look back to villages but Congressmen were showing their back to villages by moving towards cities.
Gandhiji believed in Ramrajyam and had said Ramrajya was incomplete without Gramrajya but the Congress government was neglecting villages and were even questioning existence of lord Rama, epic Ramayana and Rama Sethu, he alleged.
Mr Naidu said the BJP was not opposing missionary schools and hospitals-run by them in the country, it was only opposing conversions in the name of these activities.
