College students take out peace rally on Gandhi Jayanti
Mumbai, Oct 2 (UNI) At least 1,000 students from 70 colleges under the Mumbai University today took out a peace rally and pledged to work towards creating a non-violent society to commemorate Gandhi Jayanti and non-violence day.
The rally, organised on the 139th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, started from Churchgate and Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus stations and culminated at the Mumbai University convocation hall here. It was jointly organised by the Bombay Sarvodaya Mandal, NSS unit, Gandhi Studies Centre, Mahatma Gandhi Peace Centre of the University of Mumbai and Sadbhavana Sangh.
On this occasion, several programmes were organised, including street plays and Gandhi bhajans.
