BSF men and Jalandhar women basket titles

Chandigarh, Oct 2 (UNI) Border Security Force (BSF) defeated Punjab Police 69-64 to win the first leg of the Men's 18th Punjab Annual Basketball League which concluded at Gure village in Ludhiana last night.

In the first quarter the border securitymen and Punjab Police were tied at 12 ponits each. However, at the end of second quarter BSF gained a slender lead of two points (33-31 ). In the third quarter BSF, playing fast and aggressive game, consolidated their lead to 13 points, the score being 57-44.

Punjab Police tried their level best to wipe out the deficit but the BSF defence did not allow them to succeed in their efforts.

In the womens section, Jalandhar, having taken an initial lead of nine points ( 18-9 ) at the end of first quarter did not face any difficulty to outpoint Ludhiana 50-29.
