BJP will review Nuke deal if voted to power: Venkaiah
Vijayawada, Oct 2 (UNI) Senior BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu today said the party was opposing Nuclear deal and not against Indo-US friendship.
Addressing a press conference here, he said that if the BJP was voted to power it would review the agreement again and ''If the deal affects the national interest, it will be cancelled.'' He said the party would respond to the nuclear deal only after studying the full text of the agreement.
Alleging that the Manmohan Singh Government had surrendered the country's vital interest and sovereignty to United States, the BJP Vice-President said the agreement was favourable to America.
As per the deal, India would lose the right to conduct nuclear test forever. It was clear that in the event of violation of the agreement, fuel supplies to India would be stopped and the equipment supplied to the country has to be returned, he pointed out.
According to the deal, the country was forced to purchase reactors and fuel mostly from US, he said alleged that the Congress-led UPA government at Centre was deliberately misleading the country on vital information of the deal.
