Authorities do not want to offend minority: Acharya Sabha
Bhubaneswar, Oct 2 (UNI) The Hindu Dharma Acharya Sabha has alleged that the killers of VHP leader Swami Laxamananda Sarswati and four of his disciples had not yet been arrested as the law and order machinery did not want to offend the majority leadership.
In a letter to Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Acharya Sabha convenor Swami Dayananda Sarswati said the majority community across the state believed that the murder of the Swamiji and his associates was the handiwork of some powerful local vested interests.
He alleged that the miscreants were moving freely despite being identified by the local people as the law and order machinery was not keen to offend the powerful minority leadership by arresting the murderers.
''The minority organisations have unleashed a one-sided propaganda against the majority community and are mounting pressure on authorities against the tribals who are yet to recover from the shock of the Swamiji's murder,'' the organisation said.
He said special steps were required to stop the ongoing violence between the communities, restore peace and order and build confidence among the majority community. The steps, he said, would also go a long way to stop the vested interests from maligning Indian society in the international community.
The convenor said the killing of Swami Laxmanananda Sarswati had shocked the majority community all over the country and the tribals in the state but the consequential reprisal against innocent minority families was unfortunate.
