Bhubaneswar,Oct 2 (UNI) The Hindu Dharma Acharya Sabha, the apex body of the Hindus, has alleged that the killers of VHP leader Swami Laxamananda Saraswati and four of his disciples had not yet been arrested as the law and order machinery was not keen to 'offend' the Christian minority leadership.

In a letter to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Acharya Sabha Convenor Swami Dayananda Sarswati said the Hindus across the state believe that the murder of Swamiji and his associates was the handiwork of some powerful local vested interests.

He said Hindus also believe that criminals had been identified by the local people but were moving freely as law and order machinery was not keen to 'offend' the powerful chrisitian leadership by arresting the murderers.

'' But the Christian organisations have unleashed a one -sided propaganda against the Hindus and were mounting pressure on authorities against the tribals who had not yet recovered from the shock of Swamiji's murder,'' Swami Dayananda stated.

He observed that special steps were required to stop the ongoing violence between the communities, restore peace and order and bring confidence among Hindus. The steps, he said, would also go a long way to stop the vested interest to vilify our society abroad.

Sarswati said the killing of Swami Laxamanda Sarswati had shocked Hindus all over the country and the tribals in the state but the consequential reprisal against innocent christian families was unfortunate, he said.
