Hyderabad, Oct 1 (UNI) Captain Yuvraj Singh, fresh from winning the inaugural Twenty20 International Performance of the Year Award, has a point to prove when he leads Board President's XI against Australia in what would the four-day tour opener for Ricky Ponting's team, at the Rajiv Gandhi cricket stadium here from tomorow.
Yuvraj, who scored two successive centuries at this venue against South Africa and Australia in one dayers, is now focussing on the longer version of the game in his bid to win back his place in the Test squad for the third and fourth matches.
He had lost his place in the Test squad after scoring a century against Pakistan in Bangalore a year ago.
Yuvraj is determined to lead from the front against Ponting's side which is mainly banking on its pace attack. The sporting wicket will help his cause with S Badrinath and opening batsman Wasim Jaffer also having to prove themselves. Young sensations Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will also be the main stay of the batting line up for Board President's.
Fast bowler S Sreeshant, who has recovered from injury and is also looking to regain his place in the Test squad, Irfan Pathan, Pankaj Singh and IPL discovery Manpreet Gony will spearhead the pace attack while local lad Pragyan Ojha along with leggie Piyush Chawla would share the burden of the spin department.
