Vadodara police nab one bomb hoax caller
Vadodara, Oct 1 (UNI) Fighting the menace of hoax calls since the July 26 terror attacks in Ahmedabad, Vadodara police were able to nab a hoax caller after the prankster threatened a terror strike on a city's star hotel today.
According to Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana, this was the first time that a hoax caller had been nabbed in the city after the call was traced to Birla Sunlight Insurance Company located in the famous Alkapuri Arcade builing.
Hotel Express on the busy R C Dutt Road witnessed some anxious moments this morning, when a bomb disposal squad carried out a thorough search following the anonymous phone call saying bombs had been planted in the hotel which would burst within five minutes.
The call was declared a hoax after a thorough search of the hotel premises. Immediately after the call was traced to the private insurance company, police raided the firm and detained five suspected staff members for interrogation.
One Anil Solanki, a peon of the company, was finally arrested after he confessed to the crime during interrogation. Further investigations were on to find out if the accused was also involved in other bomb hoax calls, the police chief said.
