T'palli Dist Press Club demands probe into journalist death
Tiruchirapalli, Oct 1 (UNI) The Tiruchirapalli District Press Club today strongly condemned the killing of New Delhi-based TV journalist Soumya Viswanathan.
In a statement here, Club President A J Bhaskaran said though the motive behind the journalist's murder at Vasant Kunj in New Delhi in the early hours of yesterday, was not yet clear, it was the duty of the police to investigate into it and book the culprits.
He urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to ensure that such attacks against scribes did not reoccur in any part of the country, besides providing adequate protection to the journalists to carry out their job without fear.
The Union Government should announce adequate compensation to the family of Ms Soumya, the statement added.
