Kolkata, Oct 1 (UNI) Calcutta High Court today ruled that primary teacher's training school having no recognition of the central body was ''illegal''.
A two-judge bench, headed by Chief Justice S S Nijjar, issued a ruling on a petition filed by Tulsi Bakshi living in Kolkata.
Mr Bakshi said 142 primary teachers' training schools were being run without recognition of the National Council of Teachers' Training Institute(NCTTI) for over a decade.
Mr Bakshi prayed order before the bench asking to stop such centres.
The bench held the institutes as ''illegal'' and asked the authorities to return the fees of the students who got admission in the insitutions in the academic year between 2006 and 2007.
According to court officials, over 40,000 students had undergone training during the previous academic year in the institutes.
