Hyderabad, Oct 1 (UNI) The Telugu Desam Party will launch a statewide agitation against alleged rampant corruption during the Congress regime.
Addressing press here today, TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu called upon the youth to take part in the stir in a big way as their future would be bleak if they compromised with corruption in all walks of life in the Rajasekara Reddy regime.
Claiming that the Congress government stood thoroughly exposed by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) and the Lok Ayukta, Mr Naidu said he would start the agitation from Yellampalli Irrigation project.
He said he would also expose the government's neglect of the health of tribals because many of them had succumbed to viral fever in the agency areas.
He said eight teams had been constituted and a coordination committee was formed at the state level to spearhead the protest against the corruption in various spheres, including implementation of the INDIRAMMA housing scheme and the National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme (NREGP).
The party youth wing would organise a ''Yuva Garjana'' at Guntur on October 24 to enlighten the youth about corruption, he said and added that a dharna would be staged for house sites for the poor in Hyderabad and Rangareddy district on October 3 and at Ongole the next day to protest alleged acute shortage of fertilizers in the state.
Alleging that Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy was taking the matter of large number of starvation deaths of handloom weavers in Sircilla and other places lightly he demanded writing off of loans secured by them, an ex-gratia to the tune of Rs 1.50 lakh and steps for revival of the handloom sector.
