New Delhi, Oct 1: The Supreme Court on Tuesday, Sep 30 has postponed the Speed Governor installation issue by old lorries, maxi cabs, taxis and other commercial vehicles upto December in Karnataka. "With the Supreme Court postponing the probe into the issue, the lorry strike, scheduled from Sep 30 midnight has been withdrawn," said Karnataka Lorry Owners' and Agents' Association.

"With the speed governor being opposed by the transport department, the Government has to withdraw the order. Karnataka Chief minister, B S Yedyurappa and Transport minister, R Ashok have to discuss thoroughly about the further steps," said G R Shanmugappa, President of Karnataka Lorry Owners' and Agents Association.
After the Supreme Court postponing the issue to December, the State Government has called us for discussions. The step of the State Government to solve the issue through talks is appreciable," added Shanmugappa.

The Supreme Court had directed the State Governments that it is left to the discretion of the lorry owners and the State Government to hold talks and come to a conclusion regarding the implication of the law.
